Containers

I hate plastic and plastic hates me! I find that at times it is a necessary evil though. Since the school year started I have spent hundreds, yes, hundreds of dollars on plastic containers only to have them disappear. The culprits, my children. Of course, when I ask where they went I get the standard response "not me". Everyday my 4 kidos take lunch to school and use plastic containers. Last month I went to put some leftovers away and guess what, no containers!!!! It was beyond frustrating! Enter Pottery Barn Kids! They have entire lunch sets in 4 different colors. I ordered each of my kidos a set, they picked their color and now I can tell who is accidently loosing them! :o) Here's the best part.....if they loose them they owe me $$$$$. They were expensive but I think it will be worth it in the long run. Oh and by the way Bay is red. Hmmmmm... I wonder what that means! :o)

Winner Winner!

Winner winner Heidi P. will be having pizza and a JLT for dinner! Thank you Heidi for your amazing inspiring submission!

My little Megan inspires me.....to love, to laugh, to LIVE passionately!
She loves unconditionally......
She wears her heart on her sleeve....
She laughs hard and cries hard....
She beats to a slightly different drum.....
She loves HER drum.......
My hope is that she never loses her spark....
And that she inspires every life she touches to love THEIR drum, too.

And because I agnozied and I do mean agonize. We also have a runner up! Kathy D. will win $25.00 in Farmstand products for her inspiring submission!

My husband inspires me. Cam is alway ready and willing to help whenever the need arises. He keeps his cool and has a very soothing, calming affect on people who are in crisis. He's made me realize that we all have a calling, we just need to act on it. He's changed who I am.

Thank you sooooo much to everyone who took the time to inspire me! I loved reading all of your submissions! If you send me your email address I will send you a letter good for one bar of Farmstand soap at either Cressman's or Bubba Lu's!

Girl's Day

I took the girls to Old Town Clovis for the day over spring break! We had a blast and much to my surprise my girls loved the antique shops! They even helped me pick out some antique washboards to decorate my laundry room. And can I just say that Quilter's Paradise is fabric heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in there for over an hour (they had a play area for the kidos thank goodness)!

Connie's Garden

We recently went to a Luau at my cousin's Grandmother's house! Whew! Her garden is sooooo amazing! The girls love to find all the little hidden treasures. My favorite is the waterfall and the huge koi pond. I even forget that I am in Fresno when I am in her garden!

A visit to Connie's garden wouldn't be complete without a painted tortoise!

Adventures in baking!

We found this recipe in Family Circle and they looked so yummy! Baylee decided to give it a try this weekend and they were soooooooo GOOD!!!!!!

Chocolate Cake Doughnuts
Makes: 6 doughnuts Prep: 10 minutes
Bake: at 325 degrees F for 13 minutes
Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/2 cup packed dark-brown sugar
1 egg
4 teaspoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners sugar
3 tablespoons milk
Sprinkles, toasted coconut, mini chips
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
Directions
1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Coat doughnut pan with nonstick cooking spray.

2. In large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. In small bowl, whisk buttermilk, sugar, egg, butter and vanilla until smooth. Add milk mixture to flour mixture; whisk until blended and smooth.

3. Spoon batter into a large resealable plastic bag. Cut off a corner and squeeze batter into prepared indents, about 2/3 full. Smooth tops. Bake at 325 degrees F for 13 minutes, until doughnuts spring back when lightly pressed. Cool in pan on rack 3 minutes, then carefully turn out directly onto rack to cool.

4. For white-frosted doughnuts: In small bowl, combine 1 cup of the confectioners sugar and 1 tablespoon of the milk. Stir until smooth. Dip cooled doughnuts into bowl and allow excess frosting to drip back into bowl. Transfer to rack. Top with sprinkles, coconut or mini chips, if desired. Transfer any extra frosting to a plastic bag.

5. For chocolate-frosted doughnuts: Combine remaining 1 cup confectioners sugar, the cocoa and remaining 2 tablespoons milk. Stir until smooth. Dip cooled doughnuts into bowl and allow excess frosting to drip back into bowl. Transfer to rack. Top with sprinkles, coconut or mini chips, if desired. Transfer any extra frosting to a plastic bag.

6. For drizzle: Snip small corner off bags of frosting. Decoratively drizzle over cooled doughnuts.
